According to well-informed sources, border police arrested separatist Khadijetou Mokhtar and banned her from entering Peru upon her arrival on Saturday at the Jorge Chavez airport of Lima, where she is still in custody awaiting her deportation at the order of the Peruvian Immigration Authority.

This arrest comes following the listing of Khadijetou Mokhtar as persona non grata on the grounds that she usurped the diplomat status with no accreditation, conducted political activities that run counter immigration laws in force and even meddled in Peru’s domestic affairs, the same sources added.

Mokhtar submitted, after her arrest, a letter appealing the said authority to lift the ban, presenting herself as a Spanish citizen holding a Spanish passport, which contradicts her allegations of being the representative of the fake entity.

The separatist’s defence lodged an emergency appeal to contest the decision and present Mokhtar as a Spanish tourist holding a Spanish passport, without referring to any diplomatic accreditation whatsoever, meaning that she renounced her so called diplomatic status.

The visit by representatives of the Spanish consulate in Lima to Mokhtar’s detention site completely destroys allegations about a diplomatic mission, given that the fact of seeking consular help is in itself a confirmation that she does not benefit from any diplomatic privileges.
