Sahara Issue: CORCAS Head Holds Talks with Andean Parliament Speaker
Chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS), Khalihenna Ould Errachid, held talks here on Thursday with Speaker of the Andean Parliament, Fernando Meza Moncada, which focused on the Sahara issue.
Discussions focused on the latest developments of the Moroccan Sahara issue, particularly at the level of the United Nations and the Security Council, in the context of the new mandate of the UN Secretary-General and his personal envoy in the region, CORCAS said in a release published on its website.
On this occasion, the two sides discussed Morocco’s autonomy plan, which represents the only possible political solution to this conflict as well as a fair, courageous and serious initiative that has been recognised by all the resolutions of the UN Security Council since 2007, the source said.
Speaker of the Andean Parliament, who is on an official visit to Morocco from 24 to 29 April, took part in the parliamentary economic forum of Africa and the Arab world, organized on April 25-26 by Morocco’s House of Advisors (upper house).
The Andean Parliament brings together 25 deputies from Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, Peru and Equator (5 MP from each country).
