Speaker of Chile’s Deputies Chamber Reiterates His Country’s Support for Morocco’s Efforts to Find Solution to Sahara Issue

Speaker of Chile’s Deputies Chamber Fidel Espinoza Sandoval reiterated, on Wednesday in Rabat, his country’s support for Morocco’s efforts to find a solution to the Sahara issue.

Espinoza Sandoval, who is visiting the Kingdom along with a delegation from the Chilean Chamber of Deputies, recalled the recent vote by the two chambers of the Chilean parliament on two draft resolutions in support of the Moroccan autonomy initiative.

In a statement to MAP at the end of a meeting with Khalihenna Ould Errachid, President of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS), the Chilean official highlighted the Kingdom’s return to the African Union, deeming that this return will help with moving towards a solution to the Sahara conflict.

Terming as “successful” his visit to Morocco, the speaker of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies said he held important talks with the president of CORCAS and surveyed the progress made in the Moroccan-Chilean ties since his last visit to the Kingdom in February 2017.

The visit by the Chilean delegation to the Kingdom is aimed mainly at further strengthening the good relations between the two countries, he said.

Espinoza Sandoval had met, earlier, with Speaker of the House of Representatives Habib El Malki and with Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Rkia Derham.
